BE ENCOURAGED MY SISTERS!
Breathe my sisters, breathe deep.
Inhale the Love of Jesus,
Exhale bitterness and strife.
Inhale Joy, Peace and Comfort.
Exhale Jealousy, Hatred and Sadness.
On this 14th day of August, I encourage all of us to breathe in spiritually. Breathe in Jesus. Allow His Spirit to flow over, around and through you. How do we do this? We read the word of God. II Timothy 3:16 “All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”
The Lord breathed the breath of life into Adam all those many years ago and man became a living breathing soul. Gen. 2:7
Jesus “breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit’” John 20:22. It is through and by our faith that we are able to accept the Word of God as being God-breathed.
Can these dry bones live? A question posed in Eze. 37:3. The question was answered in verse 5. “Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.”
Are you feeling dry in your spirit? Is your spirit thirsty? Allow Holy Spirit to cause breath to enter you… You Shall Live!
Ladies let’s briefly move to the physical side of things…
Simple right? Until you can’t.
Our hearts and prayers go out to those that suffer with any type of breathing issue. Asthma, COPD, Bronchitis, and Pneumonia to name just a few.
We observe or take note of what we eat, how much we exercise (or don't LOL, how often we pray and when…we notice on a lot of things we do.
But even though we take 17,000 to 20,000 breaths a day for the most part unless you suffer from a breathing disorder, we casually take those breaths for granted.
Breathing is vitally important for our existence, and I think it strange that we don't put more thought into this simple act that fuels everything we do. When we take time to focus on our breathing and do it correctly; Wait! What? There's a wrong way to breathe?! Hold on, more on that in a minute. When we practice proper breathing techniques it can help manage pain. Have any of you ever taken a Lamaze class or used the techniques learned in that class during childbirth? I have, and they helped a great deal. If only to distract me from the pain!
In closing I want to emphasize our not taking our ability to breathe deep for granted. Pray for those that may be ‘Air Hungry’; A term I just recently learned, also described as shortness of breath. Pray that Jehovah-Rophe will heal them.
I want to encourage us to exercise our lungs. When you get up in the morning after telling Jesus thank You for the new day :-), take three deep breaths. Slowly inhale through your nose (counting to three), hold your breath for a count of three. Then exhale slowly through your mouth for a count of three.
Here is an exercise we can practice:
To make sure we are getting enough life supporting air, we should breathe horizontally, as explained in "Breath: The Simple, Revolutionary 14 Day Program to Improve Your Mental and Physical Health." Instead of breathing vertically, where your shoulders rise and fall, focus on breathing so that your chest remains still. When you place one hand on your chest and the other on your belly, the hand on your belly should move more. If you’re breathing correctly, only the middle part of your body, from your chest to your pelvis, will expand, with your belly rising and falling. If we take time to focus on our breathing, we can train ourselves to breathe more effectively.
Be Blessed
